The peal of bells has long served as a bridge—crossing neighborhoods, faiths, and viewpoints to call people together during moments of historic importance. Across cultures and traditions, bells have marked times of reflection, remembrance, celebration, and hope.
Today, our country often feels defined by division. Voices compete, tensions rise, and common ground can feel distant. We believe it is time for a different sound to rise above the noise.
ApPeal for CommUnity is a nationwide initiative that invites places of worship and education across the United States to participate in a shared moment of resonance—ringing bells together as a symbol of unity, peace, and shared purpose.
Our Vision
Our Vision - "The message of ApPeal for CommUnity is simple yet powerful! A synchronized ringing of bells reminds us that we are connected even when we differ."
When - The 1st and 14th of every month, beginning at the following time:
1:00pm Eastern
12:00pm (noon) Central
11:00am Mountain
10:00am Pacific
We understand that this time may not fit every schedule. We invite you to participate at a time that best serves your organization and community.
Duration - Depending on your community, we encourage a continual ringing of bells for at least three minutes (some have chosen 10 minutes or longer).
The Message - This is not a political statement. It is a deep, shared, reflective commitment to the ideals of community - on a local, regional, national and global level. We are one people - ringing together for peace, civility, and a shared future.
Why Participate?
Whether your bells are historic bronze, modern digital speakers, or amplified sound systems, the impact is the same: a reminder to every neighbor within earshot that there is more that unites us than divides us. A downloadable sound file of a bell ringing is available under "resources"

ApPeal for CommUnity is a nationwide initiative that invites places of worship, education or individuals across the United States (and beyond) to share in a moment of resonance - ringing bells together as a symbol of unity, peace, and shared purpose. Consider recording your community ringing bells and post it to your social media network to spread the message. Send us your recording to post on our website and be included on our "Participating Locations" map.
